SCREAM HELLO's new ep "Smart & Stupid" is out today! Buy it from INTERPUNK. It's amazing! We promise!

March 25th, 2008

Hey, we have some exciting news. Are you sitting down? First of all POLAR BEAR CLUB's full length is now in stores, so head to your local mom and pop and ask for your copy. It's an amazing record. In other upcoming release news the boys in SCREAM HELLO have come out of their long hibernation swinging. In the first of what will be many releases from them this year, THE SMART & STUPID cd-ep will be released on APRIL 8th. It's a beautiful, fun  and challenging release and a good build up to their new full length coming out later this year. You can pre-order that bad boy from the folks at INTERPUNK!
If you want some sampling of what these bands and some other red leader friends and family bands sound like you can download our new 20 track sampler for free by clicking the link right above this. Look up! It has some unreleased and rare jams from MARATHON, DEAR TONIGHT, SCREAM HELLO, END OF A YEAR, FIRE WHEN READY, as well as some great tracks from DE LA HOYA, NAKATOMI PLAZA, ATTICA! ATTICA!, POLAR BEAR CLUB, and THE NEW DRESS. Check it out.
Lastly, we have a new release coming out in the next 2 weeks. The record is an EXTREMELY LIMITED EDITION hand numbered 10" Picture Disc. We pressed 500 copies and when they are gone they are gone for good. They aren't going to stores, and will only be available from us or the bands at shows. What's on it you ask? Four of the sweetheart bands on Red Leader recorded four of their and our favorite songs to celebrate one of our birthdays. SCREAM HELLO covers SUPERCHUNK's "Hyper Enough", THE NEW DRESS covers "No Depression" by THE CARTER FAMILY (inspired by UNCLE TUPELO as well), ATTICA! ATTICA! covers "No Children" by THE MOUNTAIN GOATS, and NAKATOMI PLAZA covers "Car" by BUILT TO SPILL. This record is really amazing, if you don't know those songs or artists you should be ashamed of yourself and then go buy their records...and then get excited for these interpetations.
The 10" is $10 plus $4.50 shipping and handling, but if you order it from us we will get you the mp3's of the songs if you want and throw in a bunch of neat cool stuff for you with your order. IF YOU ORDER OUTSIDE THE U.S. PLEASE USE THE SECOND PAYPAL BUTTON BELOW you need to double the shipping! Sorry. Limited Edition vinyl costs a lot to make and put in your hands...
Anyway, a few select randomly chosen orders will get the option of getting a test pressing of the record. Include a note with your preorder if you want to be in the running. Good luck and thanks!

December  8th, 2007

Hey all. Some quick news updates as it gets colder, our hands smell like pine tar (is it pine tar if its from a x-mas tree?), and we are almost not wearing shorts!
First of all, our dear friends and rockers NAKATOMI PLAZA are in a contest to be on FEARLESS T.V., which is a music show. You should vote for them here  and if they win maybe they will say your name on national television. Probably not though!
Secondly, what are DEAR TONIGHT up to? Well, they slowed it down for a bit, but they are playing area shows and writing new songs which sound amazing. Get stoked. In the meantime, while some members of Dear Tonight practice playing with corpses, some return to jobs they once quit, some do...whatever it is Dan does..., two very exciting things are happening in camp DT.
    1. Ryan Duffy, frontman and v-neck enthusiast has hatched a plan to take over the world. That plan consists of being the producer and host of the awesome VBS tv show PRACTICE SPACE, where awesome bands like Fucked Up, Against Me, El-P, Regina Spektor, The Walkmen, Battles, and No Age are interviewed and play in their practice spaces (www.vbs.tv). Ryan also does some damn fine journalism, including his being shot (awesome!)  and a terrifying piece about the worlds scariest drug which you can see here. The drug story is so good CNN sorta stole it and just went straight to Ryan for the interview. Check it out!
Is that all, you ask? Well no, not really. Mr. Duffy also makes an appearance on the cover of Harmonix's awesome game ROCK BAND. Yes, he's the singer right there on the box. So when you go under your x-mas tree in a few weeks and open up your brand new copy of the game, well just laugh a bit I guess. By the way, the game rules. It's no HALF-LIFE 2:Orange Box, but it's great.
    2. Dear Tonight guitarist/screamer/leaning back enthusiast, Marc, and his lovely longtime betrothed, Claire, finally tied some sort of a marital knot.. Congrats the two of you from all at red leader. We love you both!
Anyway, that's about it for now. Please support the WGA in their strike. Ellen and Carson are assholes and should be ashamed of themselves. More news soon.

We are so excited to announce that The New Dress' debut full length cd "Where Our Failures Are" is available now. Head on over to Interpunk and pick up one of the best records of the year! If you don't believe me go to www.myspace.com/thenewdress and listen for yourself, it's that easy. We are so excited and proud to be able to bring Bill and Laura's amazing, beautiful, heartfelt songs to people, so make us happy and play the part of "people". Our deepest thanks go to them for letting us be involved in any way. While there, if you haven't already pick up cds from Attica! Attica!, Dear Tonight, Nakatomi Plaza, Scream Hello, and...ummm...Bad Brains. All of those bands are awesome.

Current favorites: Nightly News (book), Darkon (movie), Heroes (dvd), Darth Goofy (new best friend), Bourne Ultimatum (holy jeeze, sooo good), The New Dress (band), Jena Berlin (band), Young Hearts (band).

September 4th, 2007

For you patient men and women who have waited for Aaron from Marathon and De La Hoya's new project we have good news. With a release date set for September 11th, you can get in on the action early and preorder the cd from Interpunk. The album is an amazing, diverse blend of musical ideas held together by common lyrical themes and a voice. I can pretty much guarantee it isn't like anything else you will buy this year. So be the first to order it and you might get a free poster out of it too. While there, interpunk also carries a lot of our other fine releases from Nakatomi Plaza, Dear Tonight, Scream Hello, etc etc. If you want a sampling of the music please check out Attica! Attica!'s songs on the Myspace site.
In other less interesting, but more weird news; Ryan, singer for Dear Tonight, has an awesome web TV show for the Vice TV (www.vbs.tv) called "PRACTICE SPACE". He goes to bands practice spaces (obviously) and interviews and films some songs. They have featured a ton of bands we love like Against Me!, Fucked Up, Regina Spektor, El-P, The Walkmen, Etc. This week he caught up with Rapper/Actor/Bad Videogame Maker/Vitamin Water Salesmen/Label Guy/Archeologist/Amateur Speed Skater; 50 Cent. This is funny enough as it is, but for some reason BEST WEEK EVER has decided to talk about the whole thing here. Yes, the article is called 50 CENT TALKS TO A RABBI IN A PURSE STORE. Yes, at the beggining of the clip 50 is making fun of Dan from Dear Tonight's tattoos (he didn't even see the one on his leg!). No, there is no Team Red Leader/G-Unit beef, yes we are trying to get 50 on the next Dear Tonight cd.  Anyway, go to VBS.TV and watch "Practice Space" because Ryan is a great interviewer and he works his ass off on that show.

current interests: The Mets (baseball), Scream Hello & Polar Bear Club new cds (music), Ron Howard's new astronaut movie (film), Kiss My Snake (dvd), The Hood by Brian K. Vaughan (book).
EXTRA SPECIAL HAPPY BIRTHDAYS GO TO: RONNY MIGS, LAURA, AARON, OSCAR, and RICKY. If I forgot you it's because we aren't that close.

August 1st, 2007

First of all if you are sitting at home instead of traveling to see THE NEW DRESS and ATTICA! ATTICA! on tour you need to get up. Get this show on the road, the tour is half way done. Scroll down for dates. And by the way if you miss the shows with POLAR BEAR CLUB, who are fresh out of the studio recording their full length for us, you will miss new jams, good times, and maybe, just maybe some sing alongs and finger pointings. Also this friday, our dear friend FIRE WHEN READY are reuniting to play with the above mentioned bands. Syracuse will never be the same.
Anyway, in other news the awesome DEAR TONIGHT just returned from their tour with the equally awesome NAKATOMI PLAZA. While the Nakatomi Plaza folks are playing around here a bit to gear up for their next tour, the dear tonight folks are taking a little break to work and that sort of thing. While they are hanging out around here you should check out their record. "Why?" you ask. Well, besides the fact that they are SPIN's band of the day for August 2nd? (please go to spin.com and vote for them to be band of the millenium or whatever. Also people, while you are there please answer the poll about which 90's band you want to see reunited. I mean for fuck's sake soundgarden is winning! Do people not scroll down to see FAITH NO MORE on there????) Well a lot of people who have great taste in music have been saying awesome things about their record. "Like what?" you ask. Well here are some quotes to digest, if your intestines can handle it:

"They embrace noise and melody in equal measure coming on like Fugazi and Hot Water Music having a purposeful chat."- New-Noise.net

"If Against Me! had grown up in the hardcore pool of Brooklyn, NY instead of the college punk town of Gainesville, FL they just might have sounded like Dear Tonight. Smart lyrics that teeter between socio-political and witty observations, here is a band lined up to stand alongside the Anti Flags, the Strike Anywheres, and the NOFXs of the day. Politi-punk that balances message with melody." - Ink19.com

"For the first time in a long time, a band is successfully balancing introspection and vulnerability on a solid fulcrum of boiling pissed-offness. We’re Not Men is smart, succinct, and flawlessly executed, ranking a spot on the shelf next to well-worn copies of Ignition’s “Sinker” EP and Threadbare’s “Feeling Older Faster.” " - Vice Magazine

"...it's certainly a solid, accomplished feat by a band that easily shows itself to be one of the more forward-thinking, intelligent punk acts of the NYC area." - Punknews.org

"I'm not sure how to describe the sound of Brooklyn's Dear Tonight but I'll try. A band that comes to mind when I listen to this album is Refused, around the time of "Everlasting"... dig the down-tempo parts a lot and when the songs take off and becomes fast I don't just dig it anymore - I love it. These guys know how to write good songs. This band is definitely worth looking up." - MutinyZine.com

"Last time I checked, bands weren't really releasing punk rock albums like this one anymore. Dear Tonight has put together something that blends the punk sounds of bands like Jawbreakter or Latterman with the hardcore sound of Bane with the screamo sound of bands like Countervail and of course, an Ink and Dagger sighting. This is what punk rock albums should sound like, for sure.Brooklyn has been a hot bed of independant music for a long time, and they've churned out a gem with Dear Tonight... There’s a lot to celebrate about this release, so go check it out and start rocking." - RiseAndRevolt.com

"Even though I'm willing to acknowledge the fact that critics throw around the "resurgence of so and so genre" way too often with little actual results, there is a definite resurgence of this distinct post-hardcore sound being led by Red Leader as of late. DEAR TONIGHT's We're Not Men is another completely solid addition to this burgeoning pack and quite possibly the best the label has had the pleasure of releasing in recent time." - Pastepunk.com

"Brooklyn punks recalling classics like Rites of Spring and contemporaries such as Form of Rocket." - AbsolutePunk.net

"Post-hardcore anthem kids will fantasize about writing songs this good and crafty. Dear Tonight however doesn’t seemingly even blink as they whisk about writing manic track after manic track." - Smother.com

"...there's definitely a 'fist in the air' kind of feeling to Dear Tonight which nicely marries up the intelligent lyrics, emotional outpourings and the varied tempos - the band can switch from hardcore beats to something a little slower very comfortably." - Punktastic.com

"The band comes off as equal parts Deep Elm Records emotional hardcore (think Brandtson, Lock and Key, or Latterman), and equal parts catchy Gravity Records / San Diego screamo (think Universal Order of Armageddon, Angel Hair, or Heroin). Equal parts harmonious melody, equal parts explosive anger. The vocals are pretty D.C.-esque, with a little Fugazi-ish call-and-response action, but they're filled with much more anger - meaning they're screaming their asses off... Their newest work packs a punch, and by the time you're finding yourself singing along, it's all over. You can do what I did and hit play again, or start to hunt down their tour schedule to see when they're coming to a town near you. Admittedly, I did both." - FeastOfHateAndFear.com

Jeeze, our ears are burning and we aren't even in that band. Anyway, now that you have seen what "the media" thinks, the awesome folks at PASTEPUNK and PUNKNEWS are teaming up to stream "We're Not Men" from start to finish. Awesome. Go check out the songs, and then, since those folks let you hear it for free, now make the informed decision of whether you want to buy it from any of the following cool folks-

current interests: "NEBRASKA" by Bruce Springsteen, The Riot Before (band), Tom Glavine (guy), Invincible vol. 8 (book), Rock Band (game), Flight of the Conchords (tv), BearTrap PR (awesome dude doing an awesome job.).

current disinterests: The Bush Cabinet (that sounds weird), the death of Movement(band), the slow pace at which bands from Albany write music.

JULY 27, 2007

Our most dangerous of bands THE NEW DRESS and ATTICA! ATTICA! (aaron from MARATHON/DE LA HOYA) are hitting the road together to test out their new songs on an unsuspecting public. The term unsuspecting refers to the fact that both bands have new records coming out in August, and as very few people have heard them, very few people are aware of how amazing they both are, hence unsuspecting. At some of the shows both bands will have their new full length cds for sale early, but we wont tell you which shows. So if you want to hear them, but you are "too cool" to download them off the internet you can come see the bands play and "buy" their new records. All the cool kids may do it. Check the tour dates to see if they are playing near you. ATTICA! ATTICA!, which has an always shifting lineup, will consist on this tour of Aaron (Marathon/De La Hoya), Chris (Chris Antall), Brandon (Fire When Ready) and Bill (The New Dress). THE NEW DRESS on this tour will consist of the members of THE NEW DRESS. Check back here to see info on when the "uncool" kids will be able to get THE NEW DRESS' "where our failure are" and ATTICA! ATTICA!'s "dead skin/dried blood".
Anyway, there are a lot of awesome bands on the shows too, so come enjoy bands like Regulations, Nakatomi Plaza, Movement, Polar Bear Club, Young Hearts, Jena Berlin, Love Or Perish, The Measure (sa), Fire When Ready (reunion), Robot Goes Here, and many more. If you don't know who these bands are do your homework! Awesome!

In one of the worst kept secrets in the history of secrets (and what a sketchy history that is), we are going to be doing the new full length for Rochester NY's POLAR BEAR CLUB. For those of you who don't know Polar Bear Club are the heartthrobs of New York, and are ex (and some current) members of a lot of our favorite bands including Marathon, Achilles, The Disaster, Standfast, Spark Lights The Friction, and too many others to name, not that any of that matters because PBC will go down on their own for sure. Although we are so happy to be working with Nate and Emmett from team Marathon again, we are also very excited to welcome our good friends Chris, Jimmy and Greg to the team. It is an unreal honor to be doing this record, partially because they are one of our favorite bands ever, but also because we understand the level of excitement around this record, and we just want to put in that we are probably more excited then anyone else. Anyway, the band has booked time to record their new stuff in July, after which they will be going out to play some of these songs for you northeasterners. Anyway, to top off our excitement we are going to be re-releasing their awesomely named ep "The Redder The Better" in conjuction with our friends at Luchador Records. Get stoked now, because being the last kid to be stoked is so fucking lame.
In other news the mighty DEAR TONIGHT will be hitting the road in the first week of July for a bit to showoff their new record "We're Not Men", which hits stores July 3rd. They will be playing shows with some great bands like Lock and Key, Damnation A.D., Permanent, plus some awesome special guests we can't discuss yet. And the last leg of the tour will be meeting up with the mighty road warriors NAKATOMI PLAZA in order to lay your town to waste. We will be posting some info on where to order the Dear Tonight record tomorrow, so be ready. ----end transmission

So today is a very exciting day for us. At this time tomorrow NAKATOMI PLAZA's brand new full length "Unsettled" will be in your local record store, or you can be proactive and order it right now from the brutally awesome folks at INTERPUNK. If you order it from them in the near future they will probably give you a sticker and a poster. Awesome of them. Anyway, the record is amazing, and will be available from places where fine digital recording are sold in the near future (i.e. march 20th) but for the time being if you are beyond cds please go to your finer digitial music provider and purchase the limited edition "Frog Octopus, Wolf" ep featuring 2 songs off the "Unsettled" cd, and 3 songs you have never heard before, and may not get to hear anywhere else in that form. Anyway, as we head down to Texas tomorrow for SXSW and a chance to watch The Mountain Goats, The Buzzcocks, Fucked Up!, Against Me!, Public Enemy, The Melvins, and countless other bands we like, we realize that Nakatomi Plaza will be down there as they are now on tour. Go HERE to see their tour dates and go be happy when they come to your town. Anyway, that's all the news for right now. Thanks.
As a side note a special thanks go out to Al, Oscar, Lou, Joel, and Liam for allowing us to be involved with something that they all worked so hard on and I hope they all know it means so much to us.- end transmission

For those of you who don't know, some red leader alumni, in the form of the always wonderful Nate and Emmett of MARATHON, are in the always amazing POLAR BEAR CLUB. After some hard times were had, the folks over at Triple Attack Records have finally succumbed to the fatal illness known as being an indie record label in the 21st century, thus leaving PBC's record, now only having one parent in the excellent Luchador Records, in dire straits. We have swooped in, and along with the mighty Luchador, were allowed to adopt it and we will raise the record together. We will be rereleasing POLAR BEAR CLUB's (excellently named) "The Redder The Better" in a few months. For the time being please check them out in AP's 100 bands to know. The list is a little screwy because it left off obvious choices such as umm... NAKATOMI PLAZA, DEAR TONIGHT, SCREAM! HELLO, ATTICA! ATTICA!, or THE NEW DRESS, but hey 1 out of 6 ain't bad. It's not great though. If you were a baseball player you would be well below the Mendoza line AP. Oh well. Pick up the article to see the boys in their beer drinking glory. Kudo's to all involved.-end transmission

It appears that hotmail emails are not coming through, so if we seem abnormally negligent that might be why. my apologies.
try again with a non-hotmail if you've got it, otherwise, i'll let you all know here when things are back up and running at which point  all failed messages should be triumphantly re-sent.

We have a ton of exciting red leader news for you and all sorts of new years well-wishing to do, which we will get to soon, but for now I just wanted to remind y'all of something else.

Today is the five year anniversary of the opening of the US detention center in Guantanamo Bay.

Out of respect for the people held there and in other purportedly "outside of the law" detention centers run by the U.S. around the world where thousands and thousands of people are secretly held in potentially even more dire situations, and out of respect for the civil liberties we are all losing due to legislation designed to protect the status quo at (and specific individuals running) Guantanamo, please take a minute, or a few, or the whole day, to learn more about the situation there, and the shameful and unfortunate history of the past five years that has stripped the United States of any moral or political good standing it may have had left in the international community.

here are a few links to get you started:

be good, all.

Happy Winter! If more things are happening somewhere else in the world we sure don't know about it. With that said we have a few things to bring up with you. 1. The NAKATOMI PLAZA full length cd "unsettled" will be in stores on March 13th. Due to a bunch of reasons the release got pushed back from the end of January, but like cider or chicken it is fermenting into something even more wonderful. If that scared you as it did me you will be pleased to know that you can get the vinyl version from the awesome folks over at Brightskull Records now! There are very few labels we know who are doing things for the 100% right reasons, and they are, so we won't be mad if you buy the vinyl to support them over us. But really, why not do both?  Be very psyched and to hold you over before the March onslaught NAKATOMI PLAZA will be invading your town. Go see them play. Also watch out for the fine young men of SCREAM! HELLO to be hitting the road as well. 2. We have welcomed new bands to the family. Here Goes:

ATTICA! ATTICA! -After the breakup of Marathon earlier this year, our sadness was palpable.  We are comforted, though, that the end of Marathon has not meant the end of new music from these talented artists.  Aaron, the singer for Marathon, has continued to write music, and will be releasing an album with Red Leader under the title Attica! Attica!. A diverse collection of influences, ranging from punk and hardcore, to country, folk, pop and classical, come together in a record that is as much grounded in musical theater as it is in socially aware music. This debut full length is one of the best and most challenging records we have heard in a long time, and we are proud to be releasing it early next year. This record won't sound like anything else in your record collection, and that is something you should get very excited about. To be one of the first to hear Attica! Attica! please go to
THE NEW DRESS -It is rare that people play us music completely from left field and we actually enjoy it. Rarer still that our friends in DEAR TONIGHT unanimously agree on something so we approached THE NEW DRESS with guarded optimism. Around halfway through their first song we agreed that we needed to do whatever we could to help this band be heard. With their simple interplay of boy/girl vocals laid over sparse electric guitar, The New Dress breakdown all that can be amazing about punk rock and bring it to its barest elements, leaving it right out in the open. With charming harmonies that draw a focus to the lyrics of these "proletariat love songs," the obvious inspirations of socially conscious folk, thoughtful indie rock, and good old fashioned snotty punk rock blend to form a band of unequaled beauty and power. Honestly this is a record that can affect you like those rare records that still mean as much to you as the first time you heard them years ago. It is with great pride that we announce that THE NEW DRESS' debut full length will be coming out on red leader early in 2007. Please check them out and be the first kid in your scene to say you liked them way back when...

In all seriousness it is with amazing pride and joy that we get the chance to be involved with these 2 bands and their records. Our sincerest love and thanks go to Bill, Laura, and Aaron for the chance to try and get people to care as much about their music as we all do. On behalf of myself, Claire, and everyone from Nakatomi Plaza, Dear Tonight, Scream! Hello, and everyone else on team rlr, thanks and welcome aboard.

Current Interests: Resistance:F.O.M. (PS3), Rayman:R.R. (Wii), Guitar Hero 2 (PS2), EX Machina vol.4 (Brian Vaughn), Mysterious Mysteries (live), The Golden Compass (Philip Pullman), Wiretap (cbc radio), Venture Bros (adult swim).

October 31st, 2006

What could be more fun than our invasion of our own hometown? Red Leader Records is having a CMJ SHOWCASE, because CMJ have lost their minds. What have we done to warrant this honor? Nothing. But we do have amazing bands playing. Please come to The North Six (66 N.6th St) in Brooklyn (3 blocks from the first brooklyn stop on the L train) Friday Nov. 3rd @ 7:30 PM. The Performers will be THE NEW DRESS, END OF A YEAR, DEAR TONIGHT, SCREAM! HELLO, NAKATOMI PLAZA and our dear friends ACHILLES. Unfortunately POLAR BEAR CLUB couldn't make it, our fault, and some places still have them listed, sorry. We got 1/5th of PBC to come and play for you in Achilles. Anyway, the show is in the downstairs, upstairs is a showcase for some label called Jade Tree. They have awesome bands too, but we may have brownies! Tough call. Stop by, say hi, buy us dinner (optional), and enjoy some of the finest punk rock around.
In other news we are toiling away on our new website and we will have some announcements about new releases, new bands, and familiar faces soon. We are teases. For now go to purevolume and be wowed by the new Scream! Hello song.---end transmission

-what did we go as on halloween? Disagreements over feral children, santa claus, count blintzula, and "slutty record label owners" led directly to our going as... umm...we went with the record label thing, but we can't pull of slutty.
-who are we trying to see during CMJ? Fucked Up, The Explosion, Valencia, The Actual, The Lawrence Arms, The Knife, Reggie, Cody ChestnuTT, Dan Andriano, Your Black Star, Bravo Fucking Bravo, Scouts Honor, The Knife, Portastatic, New London Fire, Strike Anywhere, Heavens, These Arms Are Snakes, Dave Melillo, Bkack Hollies, The Exit, Ben Lee, City On Film, Christine Fellows, Daniel Striped Tiger, Das Oath, None More Black, Parts & Labor, Stephen Brodsky. I think we may miss some. That's ok. In 2 weeks we have tickets to see Superchunk with the Mountain Goats. Have Faith No More reunite for that show and we will build a time machine and stay at that show forever.

SEPTEMBER 19th, 2006

get stoked!

The record should be available at lots of online spots and your very own local record store. If you can't find it ask the store person to order it. It's ok to do this. We know. One of us used to work in a record store. It is also available where fine mp3s are sold. Check out your iTunes, eMusic, Napster, Rhapsody, Connect, etc for fine MP3-ness. Also, there is a free 14 day trial now at eMusic. If you use it, which you should, why not scratch our proverbial backs in return and pick up the Scream! Hello songs. You can get other stuff too. It's all FREE! And when your trial ends you can renew your eMusic subscription (because they gave you free stuff and are nice) or not. We vote for DO IT! Punkbands has posted a SCREAM! HELLO song as the featured mp3 so go support people with good taste and do some reading while there. You may learn something (no promises). We would like to just take the time to thank Ross, Virgil, and all of the Suburban Home and ReIgnition families. Again, go give them money and they will give you good music in return (promise). Also our heartfelt thanks go to James, Danny, Adam, and Chris. They are some of the best friends we have and we are honored to put out their music. One day we will do enough to repay you for this opportunity.

!!Lastly, a member of the family was married last week. Licky, bass player extrordinaire for the dearly missed MARATHON got married to the lovely and super punk-ass Teresa and we were honored to be in attendance. As a note  to both of you we wish you all the happiness in the world, you deserve it.!!

"This happy homecoming, I am not inclined to believe it.  And that snapshot
of me, I know now you need it! You need it! You need it!   So I'm coming back
from my time underground. Do you see what I found?" -- First person to send us an email telling
us what song and band  this is from wins a free Scream!
Hello cd. Because we feel like it.

AUGUST 18th, 2006

Why hello there my lovelies! Fancy meeting you here! Good thing I ran into you because I have got, OH BOY HAVE I GOT some things to tell you ….

We are just now launching into what will undoubtedly be the craziest year of our existence and we have some very exciting news.

Let’s start slow and speed up as we go, shall we?

  1. Our new distributors have been super awesome and are now carrying some of our older stuff too.  Please go to SUBURBAN HOME’s webstore and buy the MARATHON cd as well as *PREORDER* (so exciting) the SCREAM! HELLO cd! You can also preorder it from the fine folks at INTERPUNK. It will be in stores on September 19th where you should buy it again (or at least ask your local record store to order it because that would be helpful to us.)

  1. Our dear friends and one of our longtime favorite bands NAKATOMI PLAZA have agreed to put out their new record with us.  “Unsettled” should be out late this year.  Produced by J. Robbins (of Jawbox and Burning Airlines infamy) this is truly one of the great post punk/indie/whatever records of all time.  You should all stop reading this right now and go listen to some songs.  Maybe you should finish reading this first… no nevermind, just go listen.  Also you should become their cyber-friends, we do not want them to get cyber-lonely.

  1. Our other dear friends and another of our longtime faves DEAR TONIGHT will be recording their debut full length for us by the end of the year.  They recently recorded a demo so you can have a rough idea of what it will be like and it is up now on their myspace page and you can hear some more stuff over here.  Although the record isn’t done it will no doubt be one of the best ever put out ever and our excitement knows no bounds.  Some members of team red leader have recently pissed themselves and we’re not saying it was because of Dear Tonight but we’re also not NOT saying it was because of Dear Tonight.

Anyway, that’s our news for now.  Please check out all this stuff so we can say we helped our bands in some way.  Also, if you want to know more about these 2 new awesome bands DEAR TONIGHT have a great ep out now on SLAVE UNION/ DARK CITY RECORDS.  Both labels have other awesome stuff too.  NAKATOMI PLAZA has a bunch of other stuff that you can see on their website and we particularly recommend their last record PRIVATE PROPERTY on our friends IMMIGRANT SUN RECORDS.  They also have a lot of stuff worth buying.  And of course ReIgnition Recordings and Suburban Home Records have awesome stuff too.  This month would be a good month to skip paying bills and buy more records which is a very punk rock thing to do, so… you know… go for it.

We would also like to extend a very sincere and for serious thank you to Marc, Dan, Ryan, Pete, Randy, Lou, Al, and Oscar.  It really means more to us than you know. Thanks so much for letting us hop on board.. or, thanks so much for hopping on board. or. both. you get the point. thanks.-end transmission

Stuff we have been into lately: drawing pictures (maybe we'll show you sometime…), Peeping Tom (live), Night Watch (film), V for Vendetta (film), Powers by Brian Michael Bendis (printed matter), anything written by Brian K. Vaughn (printed matter), new Mountain Goats songs (touring soon!), Rooftop Films Summer Series (www.rooftopfilms.com) (film, duh), End of A Year’s “Sincerely,” (rock!).

So.. anyway.. that's our story... what have you been up to? Do Tell.  Oh! You don’t say? That’s awesome!

May 24, 2006

It has been a long time since you heard from us but there is a good reason. A lot has been going on both in front of and behind the scenes that we are very excited about. Our first bit of news is that we are amazingly excited to announce that we have just recentley signed a new exclusive distribution deal with the awesome folks at ReIgnition Recordings and the also awesome folks at Suburban Home Records and Distribution. We have been in love with both companies for a long time and are therefore honored to be welcomed into their families. For those of you who don't know both companies are amazing people who put out great music and have both done more for this community and scene than we could ever hope to. As a thank you we urge you to go to Suburban Home site and order a bunch of their and ReIgnitions stuff, it's all excellent. The MARATHON and SCREAM! HELLO CDs should be available for order very soon. As a side note the Scream! Hello CD has been a long time in coming out and we want to thank those guys for being such excellent sports about it all. We love the Scream! Hello guys very much and our love for them is only eclipsed by our love for their music. Hopefully in the near future everyone will realize how important bands like Scream! Hello are.

In other sad news, last weekend our best friends in Marathon decided to throw in the towel. It was an amazing experience to watch them play their hearts out 2 last times and watch all of the fans show their love and support. I will admit that team Red Leader shed some tears, and we will always wear our marathon sweatshirts and tattoos with pride. It was also so great to see a bunch of our favorite bands come out to play as well. Thanks go out to Scream! Hello, Dear Tonight, Nakatomi Plaza, The Procedure, FireWhenReady, Achilles, Fifth Hour Hero, and Whiskey Trench for being great bands and great people. Extra special thanks go out to Licky, Brian, Nate, Emmett, and Aaron for the music, the influence, and most of all the friendship.-end transmission

If you think you shouldn't pick up their new ep because now they are rich you are wrong. Because they aren't. In fact like most of the bands you like, even when you get paid a ton of money, it still means you get less than minimum wage for all the time and sweat you put into it, and those guys put in a lot. So give them a hand and order their damn cd, hundreds of thousands of voters can't be wrong. Right Mr. Kerry??? Well not in the case of RCH anyway.

UPDATE DECEMBER 7, 2004
in case you happen to be in new york.... this should be interesting
taken from nyc indymedia:

U.S. District Court
500 Pearl St. (just West of Foley square, btw. Pearl and Worth streets)
11th Floor
Wednesday, December 8th
10:00 am

Because the City of New York and the NYPD continue to push for an injunction against group rides in New York, Critical Mass is once again before U.S. District Court Judge William Pauley.

The next (and hopefully final) hearing on Critical
Mass before Judge Pauley is Wednesday morning at 10:00 am. This is an evidentiary hearing, meaning that witnesses will be called to the stand, examined, cross-examined, berated and chastised, etc.

After this hearing, Judge Pauley is expected to make several rulings: a judgment on the damages that the cyclist plaintiffs in the original case could receive, a judgment on the merits of the city's injunction to stop the rides, or a judgment on whether this is not better handled in a State Court.

Judge Pauley likely won't want to drag this on any farther, so a decision should come down in the next couple of weeks.

The hearing may go on for a good portion of the day, with lunch recess and an afternoon segment. A packed courthouse is a good courthouse.
