We are a small and relatively young record label and view red leader as a culmination of various influences and ideas. From this perhaps a history could be cultivated, but there aren't too many exciting, defining moments that brought us into existence. Mostly we view being a record label as being a medium for releasing works that we believe in artistically and personally. There is no real "history" here, if you like the label then you don't like us, you like our taste. The same goes for disliking the label. The only constant that could define us is our taste, for other then that red leader is a group of people with varied beliefs and varied ideologies, and this is not about who we are as people. So it is our taste that makes up our history and in turn will make up our future, and unfortunatly for this little bio, our taste seems to be ever changing. The only constants that can be seen in everything we have done and everything we will do are passion and friendship. Red leader is not really about trying to sign the next big act, we aren't really concerned with anything of the sort. Everyone we work with are friends of ours and people we deeply respect, regardless of how many records they sell or how many kids go to see them play. This doesn't mean that we don't work our hardest and hope for the best for them, we do, it just means that no band who cares about what they do and is proud of what they do ever let us down.


Everyone involved in this label is extremely passionate about what they do. Here at Red Leader, the 5 bands you see listed on our web page are our 5 favorite bands. We are proud to consider them our friends, proud to have released their music, proud of what they have accomplished, and proud of what they will accomplish in the future. And they are just as proud of what they do, they care just as much about it as we do. Every band we release is comprised of sincere, caring, friendly people and that should count for something. In the times we are living in, for a group of people to really care about what they do and to really give it their all and mean what they are saying is a highly subversive act, being passionate is political. It's time for people to start taking stands for what they believe in, whatever that may be. We hope that our "history" helps people to understand what we are about and why we do what we do.
